Does your New Orleans storage facility have a covered loading area?
Yes, our Erato Street storage facility features a drive-in loading and indoor parking area to protect you and your items from the elements while loading and unloading your storage unit. We also have moving carts available for free use while onsite to easily move your items to your storage unit. If your storage space is on an upper floor, our extra-large elevators make it easy to bring all your items upstairs.
Does your Erato Street storage facility offer vehicle storage?
No, Safeguard Self Storage on Erato Street does not offer vehicle storage, but our location at 1001 Manhattan Boulevard in Harvey does. In fact, there are two types of storage at that facility, garage-type vehicle storage and outdoor parking. For garage-type storage, the vehicle height cannot exceed 6.5-feet, as the door openings are approximately 6.5-feet high. Outdoor parking is in a completely enclosed, well-lit parking lot. The Harvey Safeguard location is well-lit, completely fenced in, and protected by a computer-controlled and monitored entry point.
Why is a climate-controlled storage unit in New Orleans important?
All the storage units inside our Erato Street facility are air-conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. They are designed to store your climate-sensitive items, such as documents, leather goods (like furniture or clothing), antique wooden objects, family photos, or sensitive electronics. Weather fluctuations outdoors will not affect your items, as the temperature inside the building is controlled.
What is the minimum number of months I can rent?
Generally, there is no minimum length of stay. Rental agreements are month-to-month, so there’s no commitment to stay longer than you need to.
Do I need a reservation, or can I just walk in and rent a space?
Yes, customers can just walk in and rent a storage space at our Erato Street facility, however due to high demand for storage, you should reserve or rent your unit online to ensure availability. If you would like to see a unit first, it is always good to call ahead to make sure the storage unit you need is available. While we have a wide variety of storage unit sizes in our facility, there are times when our most popular sizes fill up. Even if that is the case, we will do our best to find the ideal solution for your storage needs.

How wide are your Erato Street storage unit doors?
There are two standard storage unit doors, the swing door and the roll-up door. Most of the smaller units—such as lockers that range from 5′ x 5′ to 5′ x 10’—will have either swing doors or roll-up doors, which both have about a 3-foot opening. For larger units—such as 10′ x 10′, 10′ x 15′, 10′ x 20′, and bigger—they will have roll-up doors that have about an 8-foot opening.
Do your New Orleans storage units have electrical outlets?
Storage units are not built with electrical outlets, but that doesn’t mean one can’t be added based on your needs. After you pay for installing the outlet, electricity can be provided to your storage space for a small monthly fee.
